Earlier this month, Georgia Power Company submitted its 2023 Integrated Resource Plan Update (2023 IRP Update) to the Georgia Public Service Commission, which includes an Application for Certification for four battery energy storage systems totaling 500 MW.

Of the 830 MW of BESS, 265 MW will be at McGrau Ford substation in Cherokee County, with 580 MW still available and being determined for deployment. That puts Georgia Power on track to own and operate a total of 845 MW of BESS for Georgia over the next several years.
